My new local favorite is a band lead by a friend's cousin, Beau Kavanagh, called The Broken Hearted. I've seen them play a couple of times now, most recently just this past Friday at Brutopia. They seriously rocked the house (pardon the clich). They're playing next on August, 20 at The academy club - 4445 St. Laurent (Benefit show for The Generations Foundation 10$ a ticket/ 12$ at the door - includes 2 other bands). And then they're off to The Global Battle of the Bands semi-finals on August, 26 in Blythe, Ontario. They also have 3 independent albums available at HMV. So yeah... Kasey Kahne won the fuel mileage battle and took the checkered flag in the Busch Series event at California Speedway Saturday night.. Kahne and Menard exchanged the top spot four times over the closing laps then the fuel ran out for Menard and he coasted across the finish line in the fourth position. Kevin Harvick finished second followed by Mark Martin, Menard, and Ashton Lewis, Jr. "It was a great battle, Kahne explained. "We were both saving fuel, both trying to make it to the end. He's showing up fourth. I think he did run out of fuel. We were just trying hard to save fuel and race each other and do what we can do." ....
